Tatuapé is located in the east of Sao Paulo a short drive from the city centre. Roughly bordered by Rua Tuiuti, Avenida Salim Farah Maluf, Avenida Celso Garcia e Marginal Tietê, the area is traditionally associated with the Italian community. Historically an area with a strong industrial tradition, some companies now have commercial centres while factories have been moved elsewhere. The area has undergone a gradual process of gentrification and formerly industrial zone has been largely replaced by residential communities. Due to the relative distance from Sao Paulo city centre and business districts, there are various options for excellent-value flats in Tatuapé.
The area has amenities nearby such as the popular Shopping Metro Tatuape, the protected building of museum Casa do Tatuapé on Rua Guabiju and Parque do Piqueri. Despite the relative distance from some parts of the city, hotels and flats in Tatuape such as Tryp Sao Paulo are well-connected to the rest of the city, with bus terminal Metro Tatuape, metro line number 3 and Avenida Radial Leste and motorway 116 providing access to the city centre.
